Training and Career Development
Simcoe Muskoka Family Connexions is committed to its workforce and the career development of those who work for the organization.
There is extensive standardized worker training available at SMFC and through the oversight body, the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies (OACAS) via web based learning and through active learning.
Mentorship and leadership development are important features at SMFC, encouraging the staff to explore and cultivate their potential in the field of child welfare. A comprehensive calendar of training and development events is continuously updated with the latest research and practice in the field. There is financial support available for employees to attend training sessions or complete degree requirements and educational leaves of absence can be arranged.
Simcoe Muskoka Family Connexions is committed to developing partnerships with educational institutions to offer students learning and development opportunities. Students will have access to training and development to build some foundational knowledge and practice skills to prepare them to meet the challenges in their field, and in the context of child welfare. These are unpaid placements.
